Please note that this is only a test site. The official site is http://www.bembridge-ac.co.uk Welcome to the largest boat angling club on the Isle of Wight. Bembridge Angling Club has membership of adults, wives and juniors totalling nearly 200. We have grown from a small group of friends in 1963 to a thriving club owning our self built club house on St Helens North Quay along with a fenced parking area. The club has a lease from the harbour company for an area of ground on which there are thirty swinging mooring for boats up to thirty five foot. Around the Quay there are spaces for five boats up to thirty one feet and a further five boats are moored between piles off the Quay. The club also has two spaces allocated on the inside of the Harbour Pontoons in the centre of the harbour. These are occupied by the two of our largest boats. Starting in January each year the club hires a crane to lift boat onto our Quay for a scrub and a new coat of antifouling as groups of boats are lifted out for four weeks at a time, it gives us a chance to do one or two other jobs we cannot do while afloat this limits car parking for a few weeks each year, but for the rest of the year car parking is for members only. The club has a long list of trophies and shields to be won in competitions throughout the year. An A.G.M. is held at the end of October each year prior to the beginning of the club year on the 1st of November. The annual dinner dance and prize giving is held at the end of November. All members are encouraged to serve on the committee and to assist when required for a working party for any task that needs willing hands. The secretary sends out a newsletter each quarter with news and information on club activities and events. Occasionally a talk or film show is arranged and held in the clubhouse on subjects considered in keeping with our hobby/sport. On Friday evenings members gather at the clubhouse for a chat, refreshments are available so please do come along and join us. |
